When the weather gets cold and you’re looking for something that can warm you up there are a lot of hot drinks that can do the trick. We at Foodini’s offer a variety of freshly prepared foods that pair wonderfully with all of these drink recipes.

Peppermint Hot White Chocolate

Heat 8 ounces of whole milk in a saucepan over medium heat until it begins to steam. Add one ounce of white chocolate to the saucepan and mix. Once fully mixed add to a large mug and add 2 tablespoons of peppermint schnapps if desired. Top the mug with whipped cream and finely crushed peppermint candy. This recipe is great for any cold, winter day and will pair perfectly with our Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla Sauce.

Eggnog and Bailey’s

This drink uses 4 ounces of eggnog, 2 ounces of Bailey’s, nutmeg and cinnamon. Mix together the eggnog and Bailey’s in a large mug then sprinkle on the nutmeg and cinnamon to taste. After working hard to get ready for the holidays this drink can provide your guests with the ultimate holiday party.

Homemade Hot Apple Cider

Heat 2 quarts of apple juice in a large pot over medium heat. In the pot combine ½ cup of brown sugar until dissolved. Add 1 apple unpeeled and cut in slices, 1 naval orange unpeeled and sliced, and 2 cinnamon sticks. Let this simmer for 20 minutes then remove the apples, oranges and cinnamon sticks. Stir in ½ teaspoon of nutmeg and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon to the pot. This warm drink can be served perfectly with our apple strudels with blue cheese and walnuts.

Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine ½ teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice, 2 tablespoons of pumpkin puree, and 2 tablespoons of honey. Stir these ingredients until it starts to simmer then add 1 ½ cups of whole milk and 2 tablespoons of vanilla. Bring this to a simmer then whisk the dish until the contents are frothy. Fill two cups each with 1 shot of espresso and half of the latte mix. Serve the dish with whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Hot Ginger Tea

Hot ginger tea is both healthy and easy to make. In a pot boil 1 cup of water and 3 ounces of finely sliced ginger root for about 2 minutes. Strain the mixture and add honey to taste.

Healthy Hot Coffee

If you are looking to start your day with a healthy drink but still need your morning caffeine, try this healthy hot coffee. First, make your favorite coffee. In a coffee cup combine 1 tablespoon of high quality, unsalted butter and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Then, add hot coffee to the cup. Stir the mixture or combine in a blender for a frothier option.
